Fabric "Posey" flower tutorial

Hello, this is Donna with another easy tutorial on making a fabric flower. I learned how to make this flower a couple of years ago and I thought I would share it with you. All you need is fabric, a needle and thread. Lay your fabric out flat on your table. You will need to trace out five 3" circles. You can trace them from a punched circle or you can sketch them freehand if you like.

Cut the circles out.

Fold the circles in half.
Then fold in half again.

Now you will take your needle and thread and with a running stitch sew along the curved edges making sure that you stitch through all the layers.

Do not cut the thread. You will continue stitching all the circles onto the thread.

When done pull the thread to gather the petals. As tightly as possible. Then you will want to stitch the first and last petals together at the stitch line.

You may end up with a small hole at the centre. Simply stitch back and forth a couple of times pulling the thread which will pull the fabric together. Now all you have to do is add a centre - either a decorative brad, a button or a paper flower.
Below is a layout I did using this flower. I drew out some large green leaves from paper, made a pleat at the bottom to puff them up then adhered them to the back of the flower. I used the Jillibean Soup "Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup" paper which was from their spring line. Love this paper - it is pretty, delightful and fun. Hope you like it.
Here is a closeup of the flower. I threaded some organza ribbon through a large button and tied a bow then I adhered the button to the centre of the flower. This flower looks gorgeous if you use organza. Even try some canvas or muslin. Experiment and have fun. HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!!!!
