Good morning everyone!!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a very pretty pastel layout on a box with some mixed media effects that I just completed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was made with lots of pretty Prima flowers and with spring in mind.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_fDCGG9xWsc2fJRwkz5AGK5EuNpvXqNmVTel4IJxeL4jX_3iTFFJRggehJgEdKgmxT3WzuQJ3RvoTAWFIMKLfQPqYzlqcDNLKZgwWIZ1e4N02x-HIPf_hzHhjCLcoTtQNNc17/s1600/DSC01915.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_fDCGG9xWsc2fJRwkz5AGK5EuNpvXqNmVTel4IJxeL4jX_3iTFFJRggehJgEdKgmxT3WzuQJ3RvoTAWFIMKLfQPqYzlqcDNLKZgwWIZ1e4N02x-HIPf_hzHhjCLcoTtQNNc17/s640/DSC01915.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is actually a wood box that I reversed and used the bottom of the box. I first adhered a piece of water colour paper because I knew I was going to be using sprays and water. The surface of the box is very shiny from the finish it was given and I knew that the sprays would not stay too well on the surface. I then used an ivy stencil that was luckily the same size as the box and applied heavy modeling paste on the complete surface. When the paste was completely dry I applied a good coat of matte medium to prevent the sprays from soaking into the paper. That way I got good coverage and I could move the sprays around with a paint brush.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When the medium was dry (only takes a couple of minutes - use a hair dryer or heat gun to speed things up), I took 3 cookie sticks and adhered them down the centre of the box. I mixed up the length of them, one was higher, one was lower and the other in the middle. I then made a mold of air dry clay, cut it in half and applied one to the right side of the sticks and the other, slightly lower, and to the left of the sticks. Next was my sprays. I sprayed a soft yellow around the entire centre of the box, not quite out to the outer edges. For the darker green colour, I put some in a plastic dish, added water to dilute it down, then used a paint brush to go in and around the sticks and the clay pieces. I did add some more after I added the frame and flowers, here and there, around the outside edges of the flowers, not on the flowers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next I added a picture of a house that I found on a piece of patterned paper to the back of the frame. I wanted the frame to stand out from the centre, so I cut a couple of pieces of chipboard, put them together and adhered it down to the back of the frame. I adhered the resin frame onto the sticks in the centre. I die cut some vines and added them around the centre section, one onto the upper sticks and lower sticks and then onto the clay molds. The flowers were next, tucking some just under the edge of the frame and some onto the frame. And lastly a vine coming out from under the flowers on the frame. For extra accent I added some Nuvo crystal drops around the flowers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are a few closeups.</div>

Hello everyone!!! I hope everyone has survived the extreme cold snap as of late.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Great time for scrapbooking.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some time ago I posted my creation for the front of a journal book which I planned on creating pages for my "favourite quotes". Well I finally completed the book and I am going to share it with you today. I really enjoy doing books like this. So far I have an "Old Age" book, a "Fairies" book, a "Pretty Faces" book and now my "Favourite Quotes" book.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I keep them in a cabinet in my family room and every once in a while I bring one out and set it on my table for other people to look through.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the cover I used lots and lots of mixed media products - crackle paste, modeling paste with stencils, wood and metal shapes, and lots of Finnibair alchemy paints and mica powders.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP0zcDYy2nWUQPL-N7wYsvyEWdis_ElZuR8lEDj9m_JOMcSCCfn94SnU-Eiewj3yxVT1NqGLcqiXtA2L8A0cKhvJPnnScCEFi-_OUvmQ10XoalUefGkQdmZc4TocQxbKHaPHrw/s1600/DSC01774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP0zcDYy2nWUQPL-N7wYsvyEWdis_ElZuR8lEDj9m_JOMcSCCfn94SnU-Eiewj3yxVT1NqGLcqiXtA2L8A0cKhvJPnnScCEFi-_OUvmQ10XoalUefGkQdmZc4TocQxbKHaPHrw/s640/DSC01774.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a total of 8 double pages using some scrap papers, Tim Holtz ephemera, metal embellishments, flowers, corrugated paper, modeling paste applied with stencils. Lots and lots of items randomly selected and applied to the pages. I simply selected items for each page and applied them. It was fun and once I got started I couldn't stop. I still plan on making more pages but will have to get another journal book to hold them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First page.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The quote: "When it hurts to look back, and you're afraid to look ahead, you can look beside you and your best friend will be there." I felt the dog and the group of children was the best choice of ephemera for this quote.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Second page. Paper collages were used on both sides.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Hello everyone!!! It has been a while since my last posting - I am back with a new canvas to start off the New Year. This canvas is something a little different than what I normally do.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTQLwTnrkJLTOECSdQnpiU4r2nqURbV1LfYs9J1q-_CxT0BneezX-P02If4kVdrhnodglufarWFQpgUh3iFd3LwOCnTeqF0xDuMnTWD-5IOEIP735DItyQ-48P2cjZjewtTwbZ/s1600/DSC01763.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTQLwTnrkJLTOECSdQnpiU4r2nqURbV1LfYs9J1q-_CxT0BneezX-P02If4kVdrhnodglufarWFQpgUh3iFd3LwOCnTeqF0xDuMnTWD-5IOEIP735DItyQ-48P2cjZjewtTwbZ/s640/DSC01763.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I decided to keep the background white. I first applied a thick layer of modeling paste. I first decided where I wanted to put my main embellishments in the centre of the canvas. Then I placed some chipboard shapes from Prima around the centre of the canvas, painted them with white gesso. Starting with the bird cage (just off to the right of the centre) I began adding the other pieces. The scroll pieces at the top and bottom of the centre were made with air dry clay and using a Finnibair mold. The circular pieces (one is in the centre of the bird cage) were also made with clay. I added a few metal flowers, the wood bird and finally, Prima art stones. Next was the sprays. I started with Prima "fir needles" Colour Bloom spray at the top and spritzed with water to get it to flow into all the crevices. I gradually worked my way down to the bottom. I let this dry then started with the next colour Prima's "dragon fly blue". This one I sprayed around the outer edges and blended it with a brush. Finally, I decided to add some yellow for accent and I chose Prima "sorbet" spray. I sprayed this one here and there again using a bit of water and a brush to blend. When everything was completely dried, I rubbed some gold wax onto the surface of the raised parts of most of the pieces.<br />
Below is a couple of closeups.<br />

Good day everyone. Today I want to share with you a 9" wood circle onto which I created a "By The Sea" scene. I enjoy creating water scenes and using a lot of sea-like items.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I first started by painting white gesso onto the surface of the wood. I followed with a coat of crackle paste from Golden. I let the paste dry completely without help. You get larger cracks when you do this. You can help it along with a heat gun but expect to get smaller and less cracks. It really does look like water. I then applied a turquoise spray with a paint brush to get better control and then added some brown spray here and there for accent.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is the completed plaque.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I applied a coat of matte medium to protect the surface when the sprays had completely dried. I did not want the crackle paste to flake off.</div>
<br />

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then added my other items starting with a piece of cheesecloth on the left side of the resin frame. I added a large shell to the centre of the frame. On the frame I painted on some of the turquoise background spray here and there and then some bronze paint here and there for accent.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the right of the frame I adhered some fish netting and placed another piece of cheesecloth to the upper edge of the netting by tucking it underneath.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The rest is shells, flowers, greenery, broken turquoise tiles, and art stones. When done I added some more of the spray here and there around all the elements. Below is some close-ups of sections of the plaque.</div>

Good Day everyone!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have become very obsessed with making mini albums lately. I find that you can make them very unique and can be used for those very special pictures. They can be time-consuming but I feel that the end product is very satisfying. So today, I am going to share with you one of my albums. I decided to do this one so that it opens vertically so that the pages flip from bottom to top.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have covered the cover (front and back and spine) with a fabric rather than paper. Here is the album starting with the front cover and a side view.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk4GX3fILUTyVU_JG4XL7PsUMrdJtSZrTcE06PPN_zVOTTA4IEArBkGP_9G3BKyKiH_h0mBZ7h6BuxAW9EM0QAMOn3emWWSBFXOFOhRqrkk7m4dlrFCMVnZj6yMrs9KNJUmFnG/s1600/DSC01712.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk4GX3fILUTyVU_JG4XL7PsUMrdJtSZrTcE06PPN_zVOTTA4IEArBkGP_9G3BKyKiH_h0mBZ7h6BuxAW9EM0QAMOn3emWWSBFXOFOhRqrkk7m4dlrFCMVnZj6yMrs9KNJUmFnG/s640/DSC01712.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For each page I used the Prima "You and Me" paper collection. Lots of embellishments: flowers, decorative chipboard pieces from the You and Me Collection. Each page has two parts. The upper part has a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" flip out section. You can add two 4x4 pictures inside. The lower part has a second flip up section which is 6 1/4" x 4 1/4". You can add two 4x6 pictures on the inside. There is a total of 3 inside pages keeping in mind that the inside of the front and back covers are part of the pages as well as the backs of each page. There is a total of 8 flip out sections for a total of 16 pictures. I won't go into too much description as to how I did each page. That would be a very long posting. There is a picture of each top and bottom sections so I hope you can see how I did each section. A lot of paper collages were used on the fronts of each picture flip out.</div>

Good morning ladies. Today is the reveal of my 9x12 canvas that I have created. I call it "Choose Kindness" which is the beautiful quote block cut from the Rose Quartz paper collection from Prima. This is gorgeous paper. I took one of the papers and cut out all the flower bunches. It was a bit time-consuming but I do enjoy doing that type of thing. I actually do that to some of my very old papers. I cut out all the flowers and place them in a plastic bag and keep them with all my other ephemera. I have been able to use a lot of the cut items on several layouts, etc.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The canvas.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjIbUA8dJpUA7No2YD2RzlOtdwukr4sYeL5pMHjbcXZ5RO_-mc0JjfBu6D-L4Ko6lpV2X6PlLwUOvh30wARJE9IJPfQF-PMWSEqjdLxeLhdvEL5gYhr4_s98T-6ZkTfqTLgYI/s1600/DSC01692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjIbUA8dJpUA7No2YD2RzlOtdwukr4sYeL5pMHjbcXZ5RO_-mc0JjfBu6D-L4Ko6lpV2X6PlLwUOvh30wARJE9IJPfQF-PMWSEqjdLxeLhdvEL5gYhr4_s98T-6ZkTfqTLgYI/s640/DSC01692.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To start (unfortunately my picture did not turn out) I put together a paper collage to fit behind the quote block. I used pop dots for each paper so that I could tuck things under the edges of each of the three layers. You can see the papers coming out from each side of the block. I laid the collage down on the canvas and lightly marked where I wanted it to be placed. This was for the application of the crackle paste and the sprays. Not much sense in applying these items if they won't be showing because they are under the paper collage. I set this aside.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the canvas surface, I applied a generous amount of white gesso over the entire surface. After drying completely, I applied Golden crackle paste mainly around the outside edges and up to my marks for my paper collage. It is important to let this paste dry on its own to get maximum cracks. This could take a couple of hours. I then sprayed with a pretty pink spray from Shimmerz called Pop Art Pink. Here is a close-up to show the cracks.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then added my quote block using pop dots to the centre of the collage and added the collage to the canvas, not quite centred, more to the left side. I did use pop dots to raise the entire piece.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I began tucking and adding all the flower bunches I cut out making sure that they were coming out from the layers of the paper collage. And then the rest of my embellishments - pink and white flowers, flowers from the Rose Quartz collection, a cut piece of an old doilie (at the left outside edge of the collage and at the top left corner), die cut white vines, chipboard flourishes and diamond shaped chipboard pieces painted with black paint and then art stones. I also added a section at the bottom right corner of the canvas using a white resin decorative frame. Here are a few close-ups of sections of the canvas.</div>

Good day everyone!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I call my next project "Creativity In A Box" - a shadow box. I love shadow boxes. There are so many things you can do within a shadow box. I saw a beautiful shadow box many years ago which was filled with items from a person's past - old keys, old buckles, and other special family items. It was stunning. So I created a 10 x 10 white shadow box using many mixed media items - chipboard, 7 x 3 1/2" chipboard tags, flowers, chipboard decorative frames, patterend papers, flowers and a metal "family" door sign as well as resin items, micro beads, modeling paste, and sprays.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is the completed box.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifFp1XclDI6MHRODv1S6Z93hVRsLdzgs5fw-WxVQx8vdxCKGUMrfkeVaJS6nQHwg2FZ8Ix8QYJOIuchHKf6zn-6E7_rzH6oc-pTw2wGHLpQD6TCsOXcurE6QneAOHYKX0e53Dj/s1600/DSC01681.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifFp1XclDI6MHRODv1S6Z93hVRsLdzgs5fw-WxVQx8vdxCKGUMrfkeVaJS6nQHwg2FZ8Ix8QYJOIuchHKf6zn-6E7_rzH6oc-pTw2wGHLpQD6TCsOXcurE6QneAOHYKX0e53Dj/s640/DSC01681.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To start with I removed the back of the box painted it with white gesso, a bit of stencilling with modelling paste, then some sprays. I kept the sprays and paste at the outside edges and corners as I knew I was going to be covering the centre with the tags. I added strips of other papers across the top of the box back for more texture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then took two 7" x 3 1/2" heavy chipboard tags covered them with matching patterned paper. For the tag on the left I added another patterned paper just in the centre. I inked the edges with brown distress ink for accent. Then I began adding the embellishments. I started with the chipboard flourish for the tag on the left and then layered all the other items, one at a time. The metal door sign on the right is in its natural state. I did not have to to anything with it except add the embellishments and micro beads below the word family and small amount of the spray around the inside edges.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is close-up of the box with the tags completed. I used pop dots to raise the tags up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Good day everyone!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is time for another journal book cover using mixed media techniques.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is obviously one of my favourite things to do. I start by deciding on my favourite piece (in this case it is the oval decorative resin heart) which will be the focal point then adding other items under and around it. I just keep adding items from my stash. Below is the completed cover. I wanted to end up with an antique,distressed look.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgukYhJADi2Mg2oGoWqP0P5ilifX8bp5lF0datqdtPUQ0T0G_4OJOSxtBUn4fMMJx_oG_YTQOzczvjx0wewr6U_CzsVjq31pw7MbLMK5ZNR09VG8np1n1aGkiuTP18GOOBBui_x/s1600/DSC01649+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgukYhJADi2Mg2oGoWqP0P5ilifX8bp5lF0datqdtPUQ0T0G_4OJOSxtBUn4fMMJx_oG_YTQOzczvjx0wewr6U_CzsVjq31pw7MbLMK5ZNR09VG8np1n1aGkiuTP18GOOBBui_x/s640/DSC01649+%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To start with I covered the entire cover, front and back, with a canvas fabric. Just a word of caution, if you use a canvas, remember that if you apply sprays, it will soak into the fabric. Make sure that you spray very lightly and then lightly with water.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I adhered a wide strip of antique lace over the binding and around to the back cover</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
then another strip across the centre on the front.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcBHVlI01VJzJZWizwm1zjcw2PEDclhQW8XgBQp0abrajdSWMkMG-j1sTk8l__M2kgnyV9hbZILzHgup0VVoHxAVt39sFjsRBomN0mckHpro7qq78ZID9bJRjqp0gZeBIq0Wek/s1600/DSC01646.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcBHVlI01VJzJZWizwm1zjcw2PEDclhQW8XgBQp0abrajdSWMkMG-j1sTk8l__M2kgnyV9hbZILzHgup0VVoHxAVt39sFjsRBomN0mckHpro7qq78ZID9bJRjqp0gZeBIq0Wek/s640/DSC01646.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The ornate trellace was inked with a brown distress ink. I started by adding the ornate trellace chipboard pieces as shown. Then I adhered the frame in place. I put an antique photo in the frame (not anyone I know) With my finger I applied some gold rub around the frame on the lace.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0mkEQGG6taQPz7-V2SfyTghqH3Tn422tsWCXx0bx0dp0LLI6ZRscNMHo2tdBRIFWr-HgDhvA5cbafxQTx_huohr5viH8eA4RMblH5s50v_HpNSFan-AfhPl9GaTZLhDyqzuYa/s1600/DSC01648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0mkEQGG6taQPz7-V2SfyTghqH3Tn422tsWCXx0bx0dp0LLI6ZRscNMHo2tdBRIFWr-HgDhvA5cbafxQTx_huohr5viH8eA4RMblH5s50v_HpNSFan-AfhPl9GaTZLhDyqzuYa/s640/DSC01648.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is a close-up of sections of the cover. I made the white strips below using a Prima mould and their paper clay. I applied them over the trellace.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY8Vhrr6PQ0HvohXxqX9DkbR9Mshjxs75Lgs26XY3CR1JltF4hb4zTUTAgLFgBT1eHjnSvtk_2iMiUXRt_ZXZd_kmNfsyLfbcMbP1p_hHBhwqvsjiTKUOG8Z8tkukS8ZTRas_v/s1600/DSC01651+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY8Vhrr6PQ0HvohXxqX9DkbR9Mshjxs75Lgs26XY3CR1JltF4hb4zTUTAgLFgBT1eHjnSvtk_2iMiUXRt_ZXZd_kmNfsyLfbcMbP1p_hHBhwqvsjiTKUOG8Z8tkukS8ZTRas_v/s640/DSC01651+%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The picture below shows the other embellishments that I selected.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made sure that everything was touching each other.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi60MGigPkGH2OV7BmIAinPTbBnNVmdGB9OSi3NUll8LQbWpQXdSJNgB8Dh7nVR2NBQTE_JA_eBLaF8UMj43G2T4oolwGzkecQflDeVHHYbMTU-GR6Nxc5c5qK88et-7ByWBJWs/s1600/DSC01650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi60MGigPkGH2OV7BmIAinPTbBnNVmdGB9OSi3NUll8LQbWpQXdSJNgB8Dh7nVR2NBQTE_JA_eBLaF8UMj43G2T4oolwGzkecQflDeVHHYbMTU-GR6Nxc5c5qK88et-7ByWBJWs/s640/DSC01650.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next section is just above the frame.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I was completely happy with my selections, I applied small art stones from Prima and gold mica flakes here and there. I also sprayed with a light brown spray on the lace and on the corners of the open side. I applied distress ink around the outside edges for extra accent. With my finger I applied a gold rub here and there and then I dry-brushed white gesso on the flowers and some areas of the trellace and the metal embellishments.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Good day everyone!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It has been a while since my last posting - the gardening got in the way. So today I am going to share with an easy mixed media layout. This picture has been waiting a long time for a home - my granddaughter in the picture is now ten years old. Some day I will be caught up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZylIZbGnd9WUZXnkiYbh3AtBdsD8ZVExuhth9yGzLwUUxe8Q9iXI89pBIjelQxYgIKr_swyCoJndJHdI-yPEJhNJGsFkuXXZMworNxbJwabLWqzSrPQh7d_G5cKOhnV7ZEUq8/s1600/DSC01668.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZylIZbGnd9WUZXnkiYbh3AtBdsD8ZVExuhth9yGzLwUUxe8Q9iXI89pBIjelQxYgIKr_swyCoJndJHdI-yPEJhNJGsFkuXXZMworNxbJwabLWqzSrPQh7d_G5cKOhnV7ZEUq8/s640/DSC01668.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the background, I cut strips off of two co-ordinating papers and added them to the left side of the main paper piece. I tore the edges first, glued them together making sure that I measured across the top to keep the paper at 12". The main paper piece is the striped piece on the right which I cut down to 10" wiide. The middle pink piece is the back of the main paper piece (the 2" that I cut off of the end). I then added to the pink piece a 2" wide strip of a co-ordinating paper. I fussy cut the flowers from the second paper to use around the photo. Here is a close-up. I applied a texture paste onto the background using a vine stencil.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I embossed two decorative chipboard frames with a white embossing powder and added them to the layout first. Next came the flowers that I cut out from the second patterned paper. You can see them on the frames and coming down the sides of the picture. I added some lace then tucked a decorative chipboard piece, embossed with sparkly pink embossing powder, under the bottom edge of the lace. I added my picture next (popped up) then my silk flowers and leaves. And finally I put some art stones around the picture for added texture. There you have it.</div>

Good morning everyone!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today's project is a wood wall hanging. After spring cleaning and organizing my craft room, I came across a wood box that was hidden in my closet. Since I don't remember when I purchased it, I decided that perhaps it is time to do something with it. It is quite nice, as the back is open and you could use it for a shadow box. I chose to use the front flat side. It is made with real wood.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUu6nHPWbdMIodEHA6Ef5nLeBHuxcBs9aPf_1bA2DiouFYp9IMA9ZZXEf8sw1n-_2w15vzhxtNt8-4KuVa05VvQanLNMDV_5l7weUwYUk461ei8eqm8RBCwyBBVQQBJbqdINE5/s1600/DSC01653+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUu6nHPWbdMIodEHA6Ef5nLeBHuxcBs9aPf_1bA2DiouFYp9IMA9ZZXEf8sw1n-_2w15vzhxtNt8-4KuVa05VvQanLNMDV_5l7weUwYUk461ei8eqm8RBCwyBBVQQBJbqdINE5/s640/DSC01653+%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then applied modeling paste using a brick wall stencil over the entire surface.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For protection, I applied a good coat of clear gesso. This will help the sprays spread easier and not soak into the wood.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjncPoOWCI4pCfHw9-ncvakuqmceSVhck_qWL7pgI_L7JsjsiVTxKIMxBHQ3UOicxdKsz6TcLsm6eSLNi7NWsHHe8pE1_QmRcsgqxioMphBMIr7ntmAF2AeeRCSrAIN6CKEWtOW/s1600/DSC01654+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjncPoOWCI4pCfHw9-ncvakuqmceSVhck_qWL7pgI_L7JsjsiVTxKIMxBHQ3UOicxdKsz6TcLsm6eSLNi7NWsHHe8pE1_QmRcsgqxioMphBMIr7ntmAF2AeeRCSrAIN6CKEWtOW/s640/DSC01654+%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After the gesso dried I sprayed with 3 colours of spray purple, pink, and turquoise making sure that I dried each colour before I applied the next.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After all the colours were applied, I embossed some platinum "utee" here and there over the surface. This is something else I forgot that I had. It gives a silvery shine to the surface.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Wx2k1M3d8eTqgQ_LNkRBdJ2Bptxt7rwxC3UrW7Pb148R-mw_X8y9Wq09WblITdOBKNexrkJOeJlQzsePC2Yh7RwoLI3vRZx-Oa76BXGT4JozGbF9Dfp1YSOR4TrhR7plHb3d/s1600/DSC01656+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Wx2k1M3d8eTqgQ_LNkRBdJ2Bptxt7rwxC3UrW7Pb148R-mw_X8y9Wq09WblITdOBKNexrkJOeJlQzsePC2Yh7RwoLI3vRZx-Oa76BXGT4JozGbF9Dfp1YSOR4TrhR7plHb3d/s640/DSC01656+%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And the rest is the embellishments. I started by applying a piece of cheese cloth over the centre portion of the box. I placed some honeycomb chipboard pieces next, a larger one at the top left corner of the cheesecloth and a smaller one coming out at the bottom. For my picture frames I added the purple and turquoise sprays using a paint brush - one at a time then I adhered patterned paper behind - one with a bird and the other with a butterfly. You can see the rest of the embellishments and where I placed them below. I also die cut vines with chipboard and embossed them with a light turquoise sprarkly powder, punched butterflies which I placed one on top of the other then sprayed them with the same spray colours. At the very end I applied Finnibair's "art stones" around the other items along with some fine turquoise sprinkles here and there. I then dry-brushed white gesso onto the flowers to blend them with each other.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below are snapshots of various areas of the box to show you the embellishments that were added.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Since spring is just around the corner, I created a canvas using pastel spring colours - pink, yellow, and blue. Below is the finished canvas followed by some instructions on how I achieved it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi96MjffbBqPkiHZuvgLfm14QxMpPtIrxe20nhaSDxVrFb8IOvhs32erR8WSHjxKIc7rn_ymzae1ihhiFfNjYh0BZEIOewE-ymWIJz8lri9J7q5SBxZRhPNxgsFxJbEeBgNxCJ7/s1600/DSC01641.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi96MjffbBqPkiHZuvgLfm14QxMpPtIrxe20nhaSDxVrFb8IOvhs32erR8WSHjxKIc7rn_ymzae1ihhiFfNjYh0BZEIOewE-ymWIJz8lri9J7q5SBxZRhPNxgsFxJbEeBgNxCJ7/s640/DSC01641.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
To start, I selected three papers and cut them into various sized pieces. I just randomly cut them. I adhered them to the canvas, overlapping them and crossing over each other. I applied a coat of matte medium onto the entire surface so that the sprays I used would not soak into the paper and to give me nicer flow of the sprays. When this was dry I applied a watered down coat of white gesso - not too thick, I didn't want to completely cover the papers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5j3PlNq2v0Z8FU8OrQwKca1Yn4r_60AZ92bWolwgozh1KdXH8vcKDlFXLkptbFh_rHwuknz9t65y8Wojzp88jAZsuI3i4GIEwNhuyQDnII13l_9_hv-BFHlLHW81OW2fgp8HF/s1600/DSC01634.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5j3PlNq2v0Z8FU8OrQwKca1Yn4r_60AZ92bWolwgozh1KdXH8vcKDlFXLkptbFh_rHwuknz9t65y8Wojzp88jAZsuI3i4GIEwNhuyQDnII13l_9_hv-BFHlLHW81OW2fgp8HF/s640/DSC01634.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I then applied a coat of white crackle paste randomly over the surface leaving some areas open so that the paper will still show through.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8HHr6cehmn0u3Tzqx2v-DWkxN8xvgCZT9mYswxIQM_NFRa-OpUcKeK_fL1LCo1I4pnyf1D_mlBOUOl56qT_-GJ3OYPCd1ma3NaV9CME_Lx7g6oUVpky96RsjylMqGmGOg5kd_/s1600/DSC01636+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8HHr6cehmn0u3Tzqx2v-DWkxN8xvgCZT9mYswxIQM_NFRa-OpUcKeK_fL1LCo1I4pnyf1D_mlBOUOl56qT_-GJ3OYPCd1ma3NaV9CME_Lx7g6oUVpky96RsjylMqGmGOg5kd_/s640/DSC01636+-+Copy.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Next I selected my spray colours: Shimmerz Egg Noggin, Jeni B. Bleu and Sweet Heart pink and sprayed here and there with each colour.<br />

<br />
I embossed a chipboard square collage panel in a soft gold and adhered it as shown. The two white strips across the centre are cookie sticks from the baking dept at Micheals's. They are almost like a straw but are solid.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8_BwZXBl8GHAm-EHTcGVqQmTlcaOy2ErhUaC61U9NbjmuQ3iE2lOfUk5YmhbP9glIFnNI7yDVfyoNKC9vLoYySiiWl-vufOA0zc0KxqN2InMPDk6kUx9Mov0T3FVGjocUDTWM/s1600/DSC01640+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8_BwZXBl8GHAm-EHTcGVqQmTlcaOy2ErhUaC61U9NbjmuQ3iE2lOfUk5YmhbP9glIFnNI7yDVfyoNKC9vLoYySiiWl-vufOA0zc0KxqN2InMPDk6kUx9Mov0T3FVGjocUDTWM/s640/DSC01640+-+Copy.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
For the centre section I cut a piece of paper (same as I used for the base) 3" wide x 6" long, accented the edges with the Jeni B Bleu spray and drew some random stitich lines with a black pen. I cut another piece of the same paper 2 1/2" wide x 5 1/4" long and added this to the centre. Onto this centre piece I tore a strip of another paper and applied it down the left side (only half way across) then I stenciled modeling paste onto the right side of the second paper piece. I also applied the pink spray with a brush around the outside areas of the centre section.<br />
Next I added a strip of lace down the centre (you can see it just under the chipboard flourish). The small white doilie was next, the chipboard flourish and then a small white resin frame.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Next were the flowers, the leaves which were stamped onto vellum and cut out by hand, and a vellum butterfly. Finally, I placed some cheesecloth under the main flowers and the frame for softness. I adhered the centre piece with pop dots to give it a 3D look. I also applied Finnibair small art stones here and there along with a few white pearls. With my finger I lightly applied a gold rub here and there. Below is a closeup of the centre section.<br />
<br />

I hope you enjoy this newest canvas. It is so soft and pretty using the pastel colours.<br />
Until next time, this is Donna wishing you a great week and a Happy Easter.<br />

Hello everyone!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I decided to post a heritage layout that is simple but pretty.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdC7TNpHQBQPkhGO1gE4mC_-bOBOhZdjjT5WjBisbFqTx_tBE_BmrC1mBt_7-AspdXSyRltc1aGfIXYRkHmJkowVedrRAu8SQkPi0uHctauE3Z-Y3ivDk2zD87TVwFCNuRf3yk/s1600/DSC01628.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdC7TNpHQBQPkhGO1gE4mC_-bOBOhZdjjT5WjBisbFqTx_tBE_BmrC1mBt_7-AspdXSyRltc1aGfIXYRkHmJkowVedrRAu8SQkPi0uHctauE3Z-Y3ivDk2zD87TVwFCNuRf3yk/s640/DSC01628.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTZcS9b9JP4CpiyFOTUNmZzQWYaqKwT4BH7I16XRUpyVDyUi1rU3q0WLFrPv_ALXAJjW-CjDrWCR9qNtGwKCC_S5AOoFuYeZvqwPAlXwkxliSO4CzhVjgnfRw9MVZ48qMfzCWJ/s1600/DSC01629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTZcS9b9JP4CpiyFOTUNmZzQWYaqKwT4BH7I16XRUpyVDyUi1rU3q0WLFrPv_ALXAJjW-CjDrWCR9qNtGwKCC_S5AOoFuYeZvqwPAlXwkxliSO4CzhVjgnfRw9MVZ48qMfzCWJ/s640/DSC01629.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The background paper looks like it had the colours sponged on - not a lot of pattern on it. I took another paper and tore three pieces from it and inked the edges. I then took a couple of stencils and applied modeling paste to give more texture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbUh5DxAgwnnCqVT0N30Akz86o-C3ye1hIx_GNnUhXgKqg85d_Wa0JjL1gjwt52hyZn3DWWzS3m3xiSBUWn6NStIJE-EEmuh390Qa6xo8yyS19KXqv90XVh9zJ2CtrNAWzJgj4/s1600/DSC01626.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbUh5DxAgwnnCqVT0N30Akz86o-C3ye1hIx_GNnUhXgKqg85d_Wa0JjL1gjwt52hyZn3DWWzS3m3xiSBUWn6NStIJE-EEmuh390Qa6xo8yyS19KXqv90XVh9zJ2CtrNAWzJgj4/s640/DSC01626.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I put together a collage of various papers, cut in different sizes, which my picture will be adhered to.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then punched circles from a map paper and added them to the layout as shown below.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFDDGE21jl7Iaf6cDIPDTOPWWCGJnfTRgHjJZLK3FJ_0dYicIJxuigeRKUhwBHBiVGHRmkVAUFU0OSu7d9qO6s-dj0YjHIuEKS65rrnDPxFpfIiekcrJvcCLKR4cqmfxfxomY6/s1600/DSC01627.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFDDGE21jl7Iaf6cDIPDTOPWWCGJnfTRgHjJZLK3FJ_0dYicIJxuigeRKUhwBHBiVGHRmkVAUFU0OSu7d9qO6s-dj0YjHIuEKS65rrnDPxFpfIiekcrJvcCLKR4cqmfxfxomY6/s640/DSC01627.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After the picture was added I placed my embellishements starting with the chipboard trellace at the left side of the picture along with painted chipboard leaves. I added flowers and a metal embellishment to the trellace. I added another flower to the bottom right corner of the picture with ghost chipboard leaves and a couple of metal gears. For the final touch I added some gold micro beads here and there onto the flowers and around the outside of the picture. And that is it. Kept it simple and easy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next time, this is Donna wishing you a safe and delightful weekend. Keep smiling.</div>

I have decided that I am going to try my hand at art journaling. I'm not sure what I will be doing. I have been told by many people that you just go for it and put down what you are thinking at the time. So for now I am going to show you how I did the front cover of my journaling book. It is mixed media style using a lot of "stuff" from my stash along with several colours of Finnibair's Alchemy metallic paints. I will show you some of the steps to achieve the cover.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1GU2lw6Gwb0ovbGANwrAPgXrsSV_lx73Z1zWv6Zn10RTz7CrANwhpxi-QxmAsngvA32a4gR_ZV7YJKv5AF2rf_eM1yjyBm2XL5e7Mb29xnrnf0ZVjL6NZgDtxWNxPWr57Ck_F/s1600/DSC01609.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1GU2lw6Gwb0ovbGANwrAPgXrsSV_lx73Z1zWv6Zn10RTz7CrANwhpxi-QxmAsngvA32a4gR_ZV7YJKv5AF2rf_eM1yjyBm2XL5e7Mb29xnrnf0ZVjL6NZgDtxWNxPWr57Ck_F/s640/DSC01609.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First I applied heavy white gesso on the entire surface of the cover. I put it on pretty thick as I wanted to create a lot of texture. I used my spatula to create the ridges. This had to dry for several hours because of the thickness. When the gesso was dry I applied a crackle paste from Golden directly onto the gesso and let this dry again for several hours. It cracked really nicely and again added more texture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU9idy_B-uXjS62HULkabU3_RbM3rgfJxRlWQC1PC43_LYldPnkv-1e5evtTFZAvIziQP-wN-K_sDp6m63eF53UyVd5Cc3K0FogLa5mKaviNW7v2RPdB1IsJWubmn4eh2rDPiS/s1600/DSC01589.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU9idy_B-uXjS62HULkabU3_RbM3rgfJxRlWQC1PC43_LYldPnkv-1e5evtTFZAvIziQP-wN-K_sDp6m63eF53UyVd5Cc3K0FogLa5mKaviNW7v2RPdB1IsJWubmn4eh2rDPiS/s640/DSC01589.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After the crackle paste dried I stencilled on some modeling paste using a couple of stencils.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheKiCpc4weod2DW4h2gesOMy7OnsUx-chyphenhyphenHCZW8hYDLipNKfdDVC3XKvF3ONaNGrM-TEejK0-NFpOn3XbXu9ns0NOmQbil7S4wjMYBxTnb6efwAU6yOdNvaxqe-CYCeA-XpExj/s1600/DSC01590.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheKiCpc4weod2DW4h2gesOMy7OnsUx-chyphenhyphenHCZW8hYDLipNKfdDVC3XKvF3ONaNGrM-TEejK0-NFpOn3XbXu9ns0NOmQbil7S4wjMYBxTnb6efwAU6yOdNvaxqe-CYCeA-XpExj/s640/DSC01590.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When everything was completely dry, I painted the entire surface using black gesso. I then selected the various items that I wanted to add to the cover. The picture below will show you the items: wood decorative pieces, wood flowers, metal large decorative lock, chipboard heart and leaves, resin flowers, metal key and gear and acrylic buttons for the centre of the wood flowers and squares of chipboard. I then painted all the items with black gesso.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw3w8FZPlZNkras19P6akh0QDJJMrb51piWyMCUMySSPq0yHCDfgoHEEIPGiIAq4mDKk80MHVng1K71x3RQmBuiCqlLVzAtot2num-Hnz959ImMeRo6forC5mUgssmbYxzq0uN/s1600/DSC01593.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw3w8FZPlZNkras19P6akh0QDJJMrb51piWyMCUMySSPq0yHCDfgoHEEIPGiIAq4mDKk80MHVng1K71x3RQmBuiCqlLVzAtot2num-Hnz959ImMeRo6forC5mUgssmbYxzq0uN/s640/DSC01593.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next step is the one that I love the most - layering the various paint colours onto the entire surface. I first started with steampunk copper. I dry-brushed the colour onto the surface here and there and then I followed with mermaid teal. Below is a closeup of the first two colours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaSENGIdr_pNMoxq5KsWbkIZwhyphenhyphenWpKft-t8peGrxBV21Lvg6qtVIiowat27lCldjoY-g_FEWmJaGOLeTvveOi7nP_7laIkfkkVkgTxSN9X5fYCVZPeq_YSbrRujJRQQxXl6uaM/s1600/DSC01594.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaSENGIdr_pNMoxq5KsWbkIZwhyphenhyphenWpKft-t8peGrxBV21Lvg6qtVIiowat27lCldjoY-g_FEWmJaGOLeTvveOi7nP_7laIkfkkVkgTxSN9X5fYCVZPeq_YSbrRujJRQQxXl6uaM/s640/DSC01594.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
From here I continued dry-brushing more colours. Next was light patina, then vintage rose, fairy wings, white pearl, and plum preserves. Lightly applying each colour is very important. The next picture was after the vintage rose was applied.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieIZqk3-Q5a1WilnH3AdyKuPEz3oR9g8-hlf-b8X4XzBK1f8omrymYjDLc6eA-rxSKs4UrhT2ylGj53gwzwF0eNDXYhoDYBI0yA3m_w75vQ4VVoTTviecLSijphAUTuVQUmFj_/s1600/DSC01595.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieIZqk3-Q5a1WilnH3AdyKuPEz3oR9g8-hlf-b8X4XzBK1f8omrymYjDLc6eA-rxSKs4UrhT2ylGj53gwzwF0eNDXYhoDYBI0yA3m_w75vQ4VVoTTviecLSijphAUTuVQUmFj_/s640/DSC01595.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
After all the colours I wanted were applied using my finger and only on a few of the raised surfaces, I applied a bronze metallic rub from ArtO. I used a gold rub again very sparingly onto raised surfaces.<br />
Here is a closeup of the centre section of the cover so that you can see the colours. It turned out amazing and the metallic in the colours really shines. I added a yellow glass button that you can see at the top of the lock for extra accent.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2smK4WG0wBwtKnAvLynfnTqPOHgXGlkJKQvxk0oQTciKSbxZ2C1-Av-K5cN3EBsi6HYWeY6UdoeTQJtKYW1CttP1MJQ-M9MwaVYDBwAWAN5m4_acVnlcsNDJuc6Vhjgmrz7Un/s1600/DSC01607.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2smK4WG0wBwtKnAvLynfnTqPOHgXGlkJKQvxk0oQTciKSbxZ2C1-Av-K5cN3EBsi6HYWeY6UdoeTQJtKYW1CttP1MJQ-M9MwaVYDBwAWAN5m4_acVnlcsNDJuc6Vhjgmrz7Un/s640/DSC01607.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And there you have it. The key - do not try to be too perfect with the colour application. Just brush on here and there and keep going.<br />
Until next time this is Donna wishing you a safe and happy week.<br />

Hello everyone!!! Happy New Year!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and the start of your New Year has been wonderful.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I want to share with you a 12 x 16 canvas board using many mixed media products.<br />

The background was created using doilies, mesh, die cut clocks, lots of modeling paste and stencils, cheese cloth, drywall tape, tissue. It was simply a matter of layering everything onto the board and adhering everything down with mod podge. I started off with covering the entire surface with a thin wrinkled layer of the tissue. After letting the mod podge dry I painted the entire board with a coat of white gesso to keep everything uniform. I then sprayed using Prima sprays - blue, green, yellow and pink here and there letting each colour dry first before going to the next one. I kept adding sprays until I had the look I wanted.<br />
Here are a few closeups of the background to show you the texture created.<br />

When the entire background was complete and dried I added my resin picture frame then I did my flowers around the left side of the frame. I started in the middle and worked my way around the frame. I tucked flowers under each other and really tried to layer them. I dry-brushed some watered-down white gesso onto the flowers, very lightly on the edges. Added some painted chipboard leaves here and there, a wood key (you can add almost anything you want) then decorative pearls onto the background as shown. I completed the bottom right corner with a small resin frame and flowers on top of cheese cloth. And there you have it. If you use a canvas board instead of an actual canvas, you can frame the project.<br />

Good morning everyone!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope you had an amazing weekend. Today I am going to show you a Christmas Scene that I created using a paper mache house that I found at Michael's. It actually was meant to be a gift box and the roof actually came off. So I glued the roof down to secure it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the scene which does look like a gingerbread house.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6ayJwijmo7C3nZw8Vjf8Lf8GhNfiHw9zdfA2MPMq-vDHV5jcu1JFDtjEK2AT6h5FFmEeR4Qw9OuB9PvgVUYGwIMiIv1PnJkTpbRKoqXPB8iG-KbYlSzGrb-rhYKlJbh84PjY/s1600/DSC01563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6ayJwijmo7C3nZw8Vjf8Lf8GhNfiHw9zdfA2MPMq-vDHV5jcu1JFDtjEK2AT6h5FFmEeR4Qw9OuB9PvgVUYGwIMiIv1PnJkTpbRKoqXPB8iG-KbYlSzGrb-rhYKlJbh84PjY/s640/DSC01563.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To start I painted the house inside and out with a good coat of white gesso. To start the roof I applied a very thick coat of heavy white gesso making bumps and ripples as I went. I wanted lots of texture on the roof. I then sprinkled a fluffy snow product and lots of sparkly glitter all over the wet gesso. I let this dry. I let it dry overnight because of the thickness of the gesso. After drying, I applied a product that I had for some time which was a snow texture paste. You could actually make your own as the paste contained a granular product, probably a fine sand. Mix some fine sand or a granular material into white texture paste and you will have the same product. I put the snow paste heavy around the edges of the roof and built it up and again sprinkled lots of glitter onto the paste. I then let this dry which took about half a day. Here is a picture below and one of the roof in the beginning process.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the upper front of the house, under the roof, I cut and applied some grunge board that made it look like aluminum siding. I painted this red with a metallic kraft paint. A couple of coats did the trick. I did this on the sides of the house and the back of the house.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the house itself I painted the main body of the house using Art Basics (Finnibair) brown rust "rust effect paste" which has a granular feel. Using my finger, I applied the gold "rust effect" lightly onto the rust colour. It is difficult to see in the picture but it gives it a nice very light gold glow. I also sprayed very lightly, and only here and there, the Colour Bloom spray "tea stain".</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the front of the house I applied a resin door that I found at Michael's along with all the other miniature pieces. For the base I used a 12 x 18 piece of canvas board. I covered the surface of the board with white very wrinkled tissue paper, painted the tissue with heavy white gesso (again thick but not at the front of the house where the sidewalk is), more of the snow texture paste here and there and then lots of sprinkles while still wet. I let this dry. When everything was dry I adhered the house down with matte medium which is an excellent adhesive (lots of it to give a good grip). I added the fence around the entire outer edge of the canvas board. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To begin my scene completion, for the sidewalk, I used coloured glass blocks that I had in my stash for some time. I then applied kraft moss onto the base around the front and sides of the house. And the rest is the miniature pieces that I also found at Michael's. I made a scene around the house with the trees first. I added a lot of heavy gesso to the trees to look like snow. I added tiny wreaths to the front of the house and at the sides. I also put some lighter coloured moss along the front of the house and added some white tiny stones and miniature pine cones. Below is a picture of the front of the house. When everything was done, I added some more snow texture paste around the edges of the house and fence, as well as across the top of the door.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And lastly, I added some very tiny mini lights which really made everything come together. I put the lights around the front of the house and wrapped them around the two larger trees in the front.</div>

Good morning everyone!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a very simple layout for you today. I created this using Blue Fern Studios paper, a chipboard decorative panel and a bit of background stenciling and of course some flowers and pearls.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I first stenciled some white texture paste at the upper right corner and left side edge onto the background paper. Just enough to accent the paper collage in the centre. For the collage I took several pieces of matching paper, cut them in different sizes and created what I call a collage. One of the papers I cut into a strip and cut out the bottom edge to look like a banner.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I tore off a section of the background paper at the outer edges on the right side and left side. I added a piece of white corrugated paper onto the back of the torn areas. Added some flowers and small accents to each section. I embossed the chipboard decorative panel with a sparkly pinkish-purple powder, added decorative pieces and flowers. Then to finish I added a collage of flowers and decorative pieces to the bottom right side along with an embossed title. And there you have it. Very simple and quick.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyL4KTtAVa2Fq-lgq9KCYgebIHTOOKl3kp_Npr0vTXMVIDrkwQ_FCSAS53o7B0Eiwp8dkoR7iiez0N8fLyT4Eov8iGCRfN5XGgJXRRnnf7SkuB23lA_W6ejt73eO3wB77ciOqC/s1600/DSC01557.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyL4KTtAVa2Fq-lgq9KCYgebIHTOOKl3kp_Npr0vTXMVIDrkwQ_FCSAS53o7B0Eiwp8dkoR7iiez0N8fLyT4Eov8iGCRfN5XGgJXRRnnf7SkuB23lA_W6ejt73eO3wB77ciOqC/s640/DSC01557.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<br />
Here is a second layout, again using Blue Fern Studios paper.<br />
For this layout I created a paper collage for behind the picture, this time I inked the edges lightly for more accent. I also inked the outer edges of the background paper adding a shadow effect in each corner. I added a decorative strip with some lace to the right side of the picture. And again chipboard vines inked with green ink and a flower collage at the left bottom corner of the picture. Simple and pretty.<br />

Good Morning!!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is that time of year when the pumpkins, scarecrows, witches and broomsticks come out of their boxes to decorate the front yard. I quickly put together a witches house that I am going to share with you. The house itself is made from very strong cardboard which I found at Micheal's. I thought it was really cute so I decided to decorate it for Halloween.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I first painted the entire house with black gesso. I then added various Halloween items that I found in a sale bin - a witch's hat on the chimney, a couple of large green sparkly spiders, pumpkins and a weird-looking bobble tree (I think that is what it is called). Anyway here is the completed house.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I applied large art stones (Finnibair) onto the front of the house and painted them in rust and browns. I wanted it to look like a fungus or worts were growing on the house. I added a bat to the window which is a sticker and upside down sticker foot on the left side of the door. As you can see I adhered yellow cardstock to the windows on the inside.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I adhered the witches hat onto the roof just on the right side of the chimney. Some pumpkins here and there and the bobble tree on the left side.</div>

Good Day everyone!!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of my most favourite places to see and to view is the ocean. Even though I don't get to view too many oceans, pictures can inspire me. Today's project is a canvas to bring the ocean into my home. I have wanted to do a project like this for a while now and here it is. I have included a short tutorial on the methods I used to achieve it and the products I used as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha6Vn9hAkWPEz9Ptk9Mgqc-XFOHLSEBWJmy2SiOOJ7uLI_x_PiE8MFsnwdpXBVQsgkmWlNpSA-C_BH82lYMzLX8fyKH-EGshYpxvKgNzzAlbx9uLke9MdnfU72pURRwWwNsDkN/s1600/DSC01542.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha6Vn9hAkWPEz9Ptk9Mgqc-XFOHLSEBWJmy2SiOOJ7uLI_x_PiE8MFsnwdpXBVQsgkmWlNpSA-C_BH82lYMzLX8fyKH-EGshYpxvKgNzzAlbx9uLke9MdnfU72pURRwWwNsDkN/s640/DSC01542.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To start with, I applied heavy white gesso to the entire surface of the canvas (11" x 14") using a spatula and creating ridges as I went. I wanted lots of texture on the background.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijYbPKg1jrKDjo9NARZdxqG3SSshsybBMgPkkJL0-cK7ULiuQPQh-KY4D5sWeDz2NrCeRRfevKoqu68hrOR87jyiyijf7cy53XQTPQ5Y3q7LI53wzYL0Zak11RHOMGlARoyD2K/s1600/DSC01535.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijYbPKg1jrKDjo9NARZdxqG3SSshsybBMgPkkJL0-cK7ULiuQPQh-KY4D5sWeDz2NrCeRRfevKoqu68hrOR87jyiyijf7cy53XQTPQ5Y3q7LI53wzYL0Zak11RHOMGlARoyD2K/s640/DSC01535.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When the gesso was dry, I cut 3 strips of patterned paper, 3" wide by the full length and layered them across the middle of the canvas. I took some white gesso and dry brushed it onto the papers to blend them into the background. When this was dry, I took two colours of turquoise sprays and sprayed all around and onto the papers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg3ecFeG1TwK7pFhv84mxP5OMCMYQqG_q9R-oJPeRjHY31sJdhJbiKey3q6pOfJIulecaDpoBpCqRfpmgOEMAN6tJcp7yAxz8kHcnYhseI0wK9jvFZzrMdRZOYF8_QLJ46QRZK/s1600/DSC01538.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg3ecFeG1TwK7pFhv84mxP5OMCMYQqG_q9R-oJPeRjHY31sJdhJbiKey3q6pOfJIulecaDpoBpCqRfpmgOEMAN6tJcp7yAxz8kHcnYhseI0wK9jvFZzrMdRZOYF8_QLJ46QRZK/s640/DSC01538.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After the sprays, I took a water effect stencil and applied the turquoise texture paste keeping it around the outside. With a spatula I took some of the turquoise texture paste and swiped it here and there at the top and bottom areas of the papers. Let this dry. And for more texture, I took a stencil with different sized bubbles on it, and applied texture paste here and there around the outside edges. I did go over some of the turquoise stenciled areas.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvAXdgoOVIrgkfpO9LnDdc347-kynmXTfsBwwH_35vB24pPmpThFIc9yEMkeayuWOIDG7YlJDc2Im52WoARNAOephpjFWJkQ0Q8fD82F3eLwumNVhkbCBL_6U8D5-qJttBBh6N/s1600/DSC01539.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvAXdgoOVIrgkfpO9LnDdc347-kynmXTfsBwwH_35vB24pPmpThFIc9yEMkeayuWOIDG7YlJDc2Im52WoARNAOephpjFWJkQ0Q8fD82F3eLwumNVhkbCBL_6U8D5-qJttBBh6N/s640/DSC01539.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And now the fun begins. Some time ago, I purchased a package of this fish netting at Michael's. It actually looks like real fish net. I took a reasonable sized piece of this and spread it out across the canvas starting closer to the left side and spreading it out to the right side.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I took my white oval resin frame and decided to do something to it as I didn't like the way it looked as it was on the canvas. So I took some burlap string and wrapped it tightly around the frame until I had it completely covered. I had this piece of chain, (I don't know where it came from) and wrapped this around as well. I thought it looked like a porthole from a ship. I also added a picture that I had from a package of Tim Holtz "Found Relative" cards. You could use a picture of yourself or a friend or anyone else. I adhered the frame to the canvas as shown. Now for the rest of the items which is my favourite part. I like to layer and tuck and layer and tuck until I have the look I want. I start by adhering my main piece which was my star fish and from there I added the flowers and lots of shells. I made sure the shells came out from under the flowers. I had a small glass bottle from my stash which I added as well. Sometimes you can find these bottles at the dollar store, but I do know that Tim Holtz has them as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the final touch, I added Finnibair's "art stones" here and there (below the star fish, on the frame, above the flowers). These are the perfect accent for almost any project. At the very end, I tucked in some greenery pieces (again in my stash) and small pieces of cheese cloth to soften the look. I also dry brushed some of the brass patina paste from Finnibair for accent onto the stones and onto the canvas around the bottom below the star fish and the flowers.<br />

Hello everyone!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am back with another easy project that I did for my two younger granddaughters. I am sorry for the long time in between postings. I had to have surgery a few weeks ago and I am now able to get back into my craft room and start creating.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you ever feel that you lose some of your creative juices and you just can't get your mojo going. Well I have been that way many, many times. So I decided to sit down and start playing. I had these two wood plaques for a very long time - so I decided to finish them and make a plaque that my granddaughters can hang on their bedroom door or set on their dresser. I found the large letters at my local craft store for about 50 cents each. They were a bit chunky but once I got them onto the plaque, they seemed to fit nicely.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdIwI_6yGfx771zuqSl-QEAXN0veVRY_UlNXeH_CMrhQ446zxgOkr3WGD7sk8h56-YwuQ-HiEIjbTa8zj_2xVJfVTEr6iN1JAfHWeYY2c11eGFndJaNX937efKFHoE7gPV3oHQ/s1600/DSC01534.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdIwI_6yGfx771zuqSl-QEAXN0veVRY_UlNXeH_CMrhQ446zxgOkr3WGD7sk8h56-YwuQ-HiEIjbTa8zj_2xVJfVTEr6iN1JAfHWeYY2c11eGFndJaNX937efKFHoE7gPV3oHQ/s640/DSC01534.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started by painting the plaques with heavy white gesso to give them a good protective finish. I then stencilled using texture paste. When this was dry I sprayed with 3 colours of sprays. They both like different colours so I co-ordinated my colours to match their rooms. Below is the turquoise one. They like bright colours so I decided to go with the brighter colours as well.</div>

Hello everyone!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I am going to share with you an 8x8 wood box, mixed media (of course). This started out as an experiment on the background, so bear with me as I was just playing around at the start. I love mixed media, especially the Finnibair inspired items. I try to keep it as simple as possible but with a lot of texture. I have include a list of the various products that I used. For the paint I used the Finnibair patina effect pastes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
THE BOX</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijGe3dE7cmY5w6y30QSTVmqzndsWxht0P__JPQ-H6tcIOO4MVIeXjme5Tw1H6b9jYTDpYS_WEVGimo9iPQJ8B-yO81c5Ktz9ctGaeMU8Uv5HVKNhvWJhEdEqSuMNOBCveWudhL/s1600/DSC01524.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijGe3dE7cmY5w6y30QSTVmqzndsWxht0P__JPQ-H6tcIOO4MVIeXjme5Tw1H6b9jYTDpYS_WEVGimo9iPQJ8B-yO81c5Ktz9ctGaeMU8Uv5HVKNhvWJhEdEqSuMNOBCveWudhL/s640/DSC01524.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am going to try to give you a simple description of how I did each layer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First I turned the box over to the solid back.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then cut chipboard into various sizes and shapes and laid them out onto the box as evenly spaced as possible. I didn't worry if the spacing wasn't perfect. When I was satisfied, I adhered the pieces down. I used heavy gel medium for my adhesive but you can also use a hot glue gun. I painted the entire surface with black gesso. A good coat making sure that I got the spaces between.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIHzt3mXXSFqicWsc_de64ahcRXJD9KmZ5QnIss8kpvOq8-Tx82NsypwNzTlkPg0ISa01FnZRmXcmwBT-T4D-RHaslJrCXm4Ioqsfe4GHUxsCigaun5yrkr6y8_t5I0u79cAR6/s1600/DSC01513.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIHzt3mXXSFqicWsc_de64ahcRXJD9KmZ5QnIss8kpvOq8-Tx82NsypwNzTlkPg0ISa01FnZRmXcmwBT-T4D-RHaslJrCXm4Ioqsfe4GHUxsCigaun5yrkr6y8_t5I0u79cAR6/s640/DSC01513.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimcPIt29YsNZd_SlqlNUaB79DUVgxzNC8CNucCGUSlOlI-ZMxN1reu0lH2pyeJP_hiLffCzWBwL7DVefOC_CGxVSXs-vHRgkm1d04nvcfPzCAtnZ4lXBjcGNNRx1huA5Upqely/s1600/DSC01514.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimcPIt29YsNZd_SlqlNUaB79DUVgxzNC8CNucCGUSlOlI-ZMxN1reu0lH2pyeJP_hiLffCzWBwL7DVefOC_CGxVSXs-vHRgkm1d04nvcfPzCAtnZ4lXBjcGNNRx1huA5Upqely/s400/DSC01514.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then applied a product called "glass beads" from Liquitex. This is a thick gel that has a granular material in it - like very fine glass beads. I spread this onto the chipboard shapes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0tUKrHI1kOEwRhgV7KHGVVCMW1PsyESHYfJr9tSxoUAmCnkewl8I_0eoARWBAelU8HscF84GgcxC4M-FGLTM-iEJpkNRbeu3P3RnKHZQnV7DZfVOvuXf_pPoDVjZSneZ7JCzC/s1600/DSC01515.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0tUKrHI1kOEwRhgV7KHGVVCMW1PsyESHYfJr9tSxoUAmCnkewl8I_0eoARWBAelU8HscF84GgcxC4M-FGLTM-iEJpkNRbeu3P3RnKHZQnV7DZfVOvuXf_pPoDVjZSneZ7JCzC/s640/DSC01515.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next I took a product called "string gel" from Liquitex. Keep in mind that I am just experimenting. This string gel is a thick substance that you can swirl onto the background - you have to be fearless and don't worry about being perfect. Both the glass beads and the string gel will take a little bit of time to dry and will dry clear. It is shown still wet.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEp0pMZyNzyJMX3vthp7v_9QixDjPffSDyivS-hMwJwo1eN2sDuIaz61Vi-49jz5A02fcFvGLlfY_kgCOkdS2hvE5UhXbjdV-_CYOuqd9832w1SIpfjk9LqytxoWAZ88tPpdyN/s1600/DSC01516.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEp0pMZyNzyJMX3vthp7v_9QixDjPffSDyivS-hMwJwo1eN2sDuIaz61Vi-49jz5A02fcFvGLlfY_kgCOkdS2hvE5UhXbjdV-_CYOuqd9832w1SIpfjk9LqytxoWAZ88tPpdyN/s640/DSC01516.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When the glass beads and the string gel were dry I began painting the background with the red/rust paste - starting at the upper left corner and working it in a circular motion for maybe 4 of the chipboard shapes. I then went with the brown rust paste working it to overlap onto the red/rust paste. I went back to the red/rust colour again then the brown. I continued in this manner until I had covered the chipboard pieces. When you have finished you can go back with either colour to add them in here and there if you feel you need more of the colours. I then took the blue paste and dry brushed this colour here and there over the other two colours. You can do it as heavy as you would like - I went very lightly with it. Below you can see the various colours that I used.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlCwYs6gI0Dc7a-QThyphenhyphenBMQcQnk_g-ogoqaNZTs6g_wUkX41VLs0HrR-chMMCwPrBe8UmX4HFMj4jnqPiDY3hyphenhyphenR9bFBM0wbSPYrjgJi6_cb2biTGeMrfm_LlDlhfYi3A_7BdrAq/s1600/DSC01518.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlCwYs6gI0Dc7a-QThyphenhyphenBMQcQnk_g-ogoqaNZTs6g_wUkX41VLs0HrR-chMMCwPrBe8UmX4HFMj4jnqPiDY3hyphenhyphenR9bFBM0wbSPYrjgJi6_cb2biTGeMrfm_LlDlhfYi3A_7BdrAq/s640/DSC01518.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I sprinkled teal "mica powder" here and there onto the surface and using a spray bottle with water I sprayed the powder and let it run down the box. You can use a thin paint brush to get it to flow.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFy_2uYdlU9g45kuA41EhtHBYWsMO8gcP_zKKiWDZH_L9wNTeq3n0FTQoWahOlrsEbqgHe34ok3bX3jxWf8ZjDg1508eiIkabInKcRmfiMf5cm0tUQyuCt8Pg3peq_rXS-0o5U/s1600/DSC01520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFy_2uYdlU9g45kuA41EhtHBYWsMO8gcP_zKKiWDZH_L9wNTeq3n0FTQoWahOlrsEbqgHe34ok3bX3jxWf8ZjDg1508eiIkabInKcRmfiMf5cm0tUQyuCt8Pg3peq_rXS-0o5U/s640/DSC01520.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then took all my metal, resin and chipboard decorative pieces and painted them with black gesso. I accented the pieces using the pastes and I painted the gears using the brass paste. I also accented each piece with the various colours of the paste that I used on the background.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I adhered the pieces down starting with the chipboard collage panel - a piece at the upper left and a smaller piece at the bottom right. In the centre I adhered the large resin medalion. I added the large metal key down the centre of the medalion. I added the metal wings and butterfly next onto the metal key. And lastly I adhered the gears as shown.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the final touch, using my finger, I applied ArtO gold and bronze rub, here and there, onto the raised surface areas of the background and onto the surface of the various metal pieces at the centre.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For extra texture and accent I took some fine turquoise glass beads and adhered them around the centre pieces along with some turquoise pearls here and there. The pearls were white but I painted them with turquoise paint.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And there you have it. Below is a list of the various products that I used.</div>

Hello everyone!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry for the length of time for a posting. Unfortunately, life's challenges got in the way. So today I am going to share with you a very soft and simple layout that I did called Hugs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLaDOwrazt_jtVZ1PTz1qqDzZX_V2G7HCYRyH12ownXR7oYI4KfxUF_nwKtkJErLA0qtrSg2js7HQrSYDGAo6AYoJMKQ7KwK8cgVZFQ4yKZ_LNLbwK7NNCTcg-kV_OQXQDYGlS/s1600/DSC01507.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLaDOwrazt_jtVZ1PTz1qqDzZX_V2G7HCYRyH12ownXR7oYI4KfxUF_nwKtkJErLA0qtrSg2js7HQrSYDGAo6AYoJMKQ7KwK8cgVZFQ4yKZ_LNLbwK7NNCTcg-kV_OQXQDYGlS/s640/DSC01507.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the background I dry-brushed white gesso onto the paper from top to bottom first then across the paper over to the right hand side. I kept the up and down brushing close to the left side and extended the gesso across the middle, stretching it over to the right side.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then cut several strips of 1/2" wide papers that matched the background paper in different lengths. I laid out these strips one a time, without adhering, up and down first then slid some in between from side to side. (like a basket weave) When I was satisfied I adhered them down to the paper.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a close-up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLgdWK5do_hCH48FZUaYY5aF-jbF7bf4-j7SONZR492wpJZw0P8cjxzFq91q45ZVUiC6Zxcc5aARgm_-5aGb7pp8zAlWcqvOTYZihFr1NobOPe68HEpPuYj9LHCr9VDszHGQQy/s1600/DSC01508.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLgdWK5do_hCH48FZUaYY5aF-jbF7bf4-j7SONZR492wpJZw0P8cjxzFq91q45ZVUiC6Zxcc5aARgm_-5aGb7pp8zAlWcqvOTYZihFr1NobOPe68HEpPuYj9LHCr9VDszHGQQy/s640/DSC01508.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then dry-brushed white gesso very lightly over the strips to blend them into the background. A little bit of very light stamping here and there for accent and I was ready for my picture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I cut a piece of patterned paper to fit behind the picture as an accent. I inked my title with black ink then added my embellishments to the bottom right corner of the picture. I kept it very simple because the picture is my focal point.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I decided to give you another layout of my granddaughter at the butterfly farm.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love butterflies so I was happy to find this picture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Again, very simple. I cut the diamond paper down to 11" square, distressed and inked the edges, then adhered it to the centre of the yellow background paper. I cut a second paper down to a 9" square, again distressing and inking the edges then adhered this to the centre of the diamond paper.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My picture is a 5 x 7 which I mounted onto a piece of chipboard and adhered to the centre.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVeEH0Bww7mj_3lHShAugzgYcXCJ3_EUkhT5M7PfhFz0gM1_87B5SIrGvfZVUj9PBN5SPWM7dxi85Db9uJ0Wyav9TkfGePpOYCj68jZZARLdt-38THXccHcJKPrfmVaq2Adu6T/s1600/DSC01509.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVeEH0Bww7mj_3lHShAugzgYcXCJ3_EUkhT5M7PfhFz0gM1_87B5SIrGvfZVUj9PBN5SPWM7dxi85Db9uJ0Wyav9TkfGePpOYCj68jZZARLdt-38THXccHcJKPrfmVaq2Adu6T/s640/DSC01509.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I added various flowers, vines, a die cut circle and heart and butterflies. A couple at the top right corner of the picture and several others in the flower area. I tucked a piece of lace just under the bottom edge of the picture. And there you have it. Below is a close-up. You can see a monarch butterfly sitting on her arm.</div>

Good day everyone!!!! I am very happy that I finally completed my "Beautiful Faces" album. Below are the remaining 3 pages. I decided not to add quotes to the pages. I decided that down the road I may want to use this album using personal pictures so I adhered the pictures so that they can be easily removed. That way I can even give it as a gift to someone. Anyway, here are the remaining pages.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For each page I did paper layering and added embellishments as shown. I decided to keep them simple but pretty. A couple of them I textured the background with modeling paste and a stencil.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And also today I am sharing with you a layout that I created using vine and flower stamps to create my background. I first traced the size of my picture onto white cardstock lightly with a pencil. I then stamped outwards from each side of the traced box.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMoxcE2iGTNNjrm4yydV5w2nMJ5qtx6k2A-bnSmxnQ3jQBWFIB_rNFyJF1ThfTc-X4iMCyCLCBxe0I2qotpfakawkj14s-PUWjFo1M7f0Mg6I4K_JSvEGNh8E14m2hyphenhyphenEWIOkKY/s1600/DSC01502+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMoxcE2iGTNNjrm4yydV5w2nMJ5qtx6k2A-bnSmxnQ3jQBWFIB_rNFyJF1ThfTc-X4iMCyCLCBxe0I2qotpfakawkj14s-PUWjFo1M7f0Mg6I4K_JSvEGNh8E14m2hyphenhyphenEWIOkKY/s640/DSC01502+%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is how I started. My acrylic stamp set had several different vines and different sized flowers. So I started at the top of the box, in the middle, and stamped a vine, then worked around that first vine. I just kept going, fanning my images out and around the picture box.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOwknJooXvFU_-QYcMPUkmKjA80HnOHtj0uUViKltuCqX3ON2-7GHzPjazQ_TSWvrjsJN8Zr-0YFgwjy_4c34_R4SwVfKOC8s-0NMPDhsdgyFD6BXxX-gJxtOVWGF5XZIOqiDQ/s1600/DSC01504+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOwknJooXvFU_-QYcMPUkmKjA80HnOHtj0uUViKltuCqX3ON2-7GHzPjazQ_TSWvrjsJN8Zr-0YFgwjy_4c34_R4SwVfKOC8s-0NMPDhsdgyFD6BXxX-gJxtOVWGF5XZIOqiDQ/s640/DSC01504+%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I was finished the stamping I did add some colour to the leaves with an ink pad and wet paint brush. I made a paper collage for behind my picture, popped the picture up onto the layout with pop dots. I added strips of paper coming out from both sides of the picture. I added some very tiny flowers in and around the stamped vines along with small pearls, then added the other flowers as shown around the picture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is a closeup of the stamped area at the top of the picture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7HpMQSFMVHz8tNO93La5AeNMyvtzZeShEoC_QqrJVNhoXa2y6a3luixOxeXBZk4L-6CKppLO84IhD8pivbDUOzseUNFIU3ocTVT-HjyIPGNAJtmg8GV_7UVBSVz1wIzujvmPx/s1600/DSC01503.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7HpMQSFMVHz8tNO93La5AeNMyvtzZeShEoC_QqrJVNhoXa2y6a3luixOxeXBZk4L-6CKppLO84IhD8pivbDUOzseUNFIU3ocTVT-HjyIPGNAJtmg8GV_7UVBSVz1wIzujvmPx/s640/DSC01503.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was actually easier then I thought it would be. Try it - great way to get creative and create your own background. I hope you will give it a try.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next time, this is Donna wishing you a great day.</div>

What a beautiful Monday morning - sun is shining and the rabbits are again playing tag in my back yard. They are annoying critters but it is very laughable when you watch them chasing each other around in circles. Anyway, just another sign that summer is here.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So today I would like to share with you a 6x12 canvas that I did (back in the winter) using scrap paper, modeling paste and a stencil as well as some embellishments. I kept the papers in pastel colours. Here is the canvas.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqB4FfBz5sKbIKRNeydGsB3JSWMC5aGtP9S-T-ZLkamCqr08YdxahkVCQ9Tphx0WdGe7SqVx34xNm6eYORwlNi4m6Fu7dPWJYeUy7MsK2Gmrhqi3bzH0veiyDP-7dYMD7kWF36/s1600/DSC01496.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqB4FfBz5sKbIKRNeydGsB3JSWMC5aGtP9S-T-ZLkamCqr08YdxahkVCQ9Tphx0WdGe7SqVx34xNm6eYORwlNi4m6Fu7dPWJYeUy7MsK2Gmrhqi3bzH0veiyDP-7dYMD7kWF36/s640/DSC01496.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I first applied a very thick coat of modeling paste over the entire surface of the canvas. I also applied a coat of crackle medium mainly along the top and bottom edges of the canvas. When dry I painted the canvas with white gesso - not too heavy - I didn't want to fill in the cracks.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next I cut my paper into several different sizes, adhered them to the canvas, across the centre, and overlapping them as I went. I just kept layering and tucking the pieces.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaAiFco5iXDqisFKeS4eaSowcRJr4dmzwsguetluGVjEtZ2Iw1LSkZZaRMj1DFARKvPW6wt9dc6q985TXdbxRu8YX6-3R1joAUWC9MHFdb-tU4pByw1xQf7w7sqvuhzi00CRqf/s1600/DSC01492.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaAiFco5iXDqisFKeS4eaSowcRJr4dmzwsguetluGVjEtZ2Iw1LSkZZaRMj1DFARKvPW6wt9dc6q985TXdbxRu8YX6-3R1joAUWC9MHFdb-tU4pByw1xQf7w7sqvuhzi00CRqf/s640/DSC01492.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a set of the Prima wax crayons - amazing - and decided to use them as an outline around some of the paper pieces. I used various colours - pink, yellow, green and blue. I then took a soft paint brush, moistened it and blended the colours with water. I kept adding the colours here and there.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3F89QuLKTzCQBLDELdy5UMTbW0yUOI9xPEiQ59h7O75CorOI8Li7DXGujhV31xU9P823okmo6EnyF0RJy6cJAYy96_CTrRrUtm-pm3TeCBcwWejK4-KkIvBOq9wEQ3Dsjgtqz/s1600/DSC01493.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3F89QuLKTzCQBLDELdy5UMTbW0yUOI9xPEiQ59h7O75CorOI8Li7DXGujhV31xU9P823okmo6EnyF0RJy6cJAYy96_CTrRrUtm-pm3TeCBcwWejK4-KkIvBOq9wEQ3Dsjgtqz/s640/DSC01493.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then took a stencil and applied modeling paste over the entire surface. I only used a stencil that had very fine lines on it as I didn't want to cover the papers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGYH1YnXd4g6m-RQ0MZcWBX_QaWzN2gAY0etYf33uaNtMcHJ5zIP1goOmUY0YQZ-DvxMM7G_vahtYGSDukRvytl0-8jLxnOp2lCgxtWVilzBX3eX7phQz3HjaNdWaP6UZe6H3a/s1600/DSC01494.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGYH1YnXd4g6m-RQ0MZcWBX_QaWzN2gAY0etYf33uaNtMcHJ5zIP1goOmUY0YQZ-DvxMM7G_vahtYGSDukRvytl0-8jLxnOp2lCgxtWVilzBX3eX7phQz3HjaNdWaP6UZe6H3a/s640/DSC01494.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then very lightly dry-brushed white gesso over the entire surface. Not too heavy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next were the embellishments. I painted chipboard gates with white gesso and some chipboard leaves. I added the gates first for the base and the other items next as you can see below.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAm8HjmUW_MeuGNnzuNDXuDXD9CSUMlptZBe1Ypm10mjPVXi7F6QvcUC34_bAg1wVug5xmi_LnQsY9YP2rKkGBr6q8IvrKkFmdnLKkGj5VKbuiSCXjv5ju-0GDqFZ9Gyg7lQP2/s1600/DSC01497.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAm8HjmUW_MeuGNnzuNDXuDXD9CSUMlptZBe1Ypm10mjPVXi7F6QvcUC34_bAg1wVug5xmi_LnQsY9YP2rKkGBr6q8IvrKkFmdnLKkGj5VKbuiSCXjv5ju-0GDqFZ9Gyg7lQP2/s640/DSC01497.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the final touch, I adhered some soft blue glass beads around the embellishments and then across the canvas to the right side.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE7IJyRlqWgazdQ8pX7CGx32rIc97HW2sPeIMhgvv5dv-Yt4od0qY0PaxUZc6xP20tTOmF2C1yCj8gs9CAKKF-3A8Zqf_lRpL421-7G3qGfX9OjL0GuAyN1qjQjCUlqWOCaDr6/s1600/DSC01495.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE7IJyRlqWgazdQ8pX7CGx32rIc97HW2sPeIMhgvv5dv-Yt4od0qY0PaxUZc6xP20tTOmF2C1yCj8gs9CAKKF-3A8Zqf_lRpL421-7G3qGfX9OjL0GuAyN1qjQjCUlqWOCaDr6/s640/DSC01495.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And there you have it. I do hope you like this project and will give it a try.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next time, this is Donna wishing you happiness and plenty of sunshine.</div>

Hello everyone!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I am going to share with you 3 layouts that I completed on the weekend at an all day crop that I attended. These are very easy layouts . Feel free to use their designs.<br />
I die cut the flowers and inked them with a complimentary blue ink. A large doilie along with pieces of patterned paper for behind the picture. That is pretty much it for this one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2tN6RNSHSzrKEoZoNxDBfRKTDUFtOekpY1do8WYjGNQRUlZ5-S4_kwm0i5JaDb70s4Lc4-IB9Vq1Pk4aDg5rwKUB2cF5mjAJfC7CQDCvhRqT6aMcrO2cEtlA0B78RlD8Bhgx_/s1600/DSC01470.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2tN6RNSHSzrKEoZoNxDBfRKTDUFtOekpY1do8WYjGNQRUlZ5-S4_kwm0i5JaDb70s4Lc4-IB9Vq1Pk4aDg5rwKUB2cF5mjAJfC7CQDCvhRqT6aMcrO2cEtlA0B78RlD8Bhgx_/s640/DSC01470.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
For the next one I copied a layout that I had done several years ago. Just changed the papers. I drew some broken lines around the two inner papers for accent. I layered different sized strips of various papers below the picture. One large flower with a few smaller flowers for embellishments.<br />

<br />
For this one, I used a scalloped ruler and traced around the outer edge of the yellow paper. I cut it out then added dots around the outside edges with a black journaling pen. I traced out the centre piece from an old stencil that I have. Again I drew broken lines on the outside edges of the striped piece and dots on the outside edges of the centre scalloped piece. The flower sections were from an ephemera packet. I glued them down to black cardstock, cut them out leaving a ridge of the cardstock for accent. Adhered them down using pop dots. I didn't put a title on it as the plaque she is holding in the picture tells what the picture is about.<br />

And there you have it. All of them are very versatile and you can use the design over and over again.<br />
